Dolphins rookie placekicker Dan Carpenter has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 14. I'm not sure how a 3-for-4 day and one horrible kickoff earns your player of the week honors, but oh well.
An undrafted free agent out of Montana, Carpenter earned the Dolphins' placekicking job over incumbent Jay Feely during camp. The 23-year-old Carpenter is 19-of-22 (86.4 percent) on field goals and 30-of-30 on extra points. He set a career-long with a 50-yard field goal against Buffalo in Week 14.
