Breaking News: Dolphins sign CB Eric Green

The Dolphins moved a step closer to filling the void left by cornerback Andre' Goodman today, signing free agent Eric Green to a multi-year contract. Green had initially visited the Dolphins on March 4.

A Florida native, Green was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round out of Virginia Tech in 2005. He has appeared in 51 games in his career, recording 167 tackles, two interceptions and 30 pass deflections.

Green fills a huge need for the Dolphins, who are without a starting cornerback after Andre' Goodman left for Denver earlier this offseason. Fittingly, Green has chosen to wear Goodman's No. 21 in Miami

While Green is no lock to start opposite Will Allen and will surely face competition from one or more rookies and possibly another veteran addition, he's currently a huge upgrade from the likes of Jason Allen, Joey Thomas and Nathan Jones.

Stay tuned, as I'll have more on Green's contract and his impact on the Dolphins in the coming days.
