CB DeMarcus Faggins visits Dolphins

As I suspected, the signing of cornerback Eric Green didn't necessarily mean the Dolphins were finished addressing the position in free agency. The team hosted free agent cornerback DeMarcus Faggins (Texans) for a visit Wednesday, March 18.

An original member of the Houston expansion franchise in 2002, Faggins, 29, was drafted by the Texans in the sixth round out of Kansas State. The 5-10, 178-pound Faggins has appeared in 82 games (36 starts) and has recorded 216 tackles, five interceptions and 31 pass deflections in his seven-year career.

Given that the official website has a story on Faggins' visit, don't be surprised to see him signed in the coming days. While the prospect of signing Faggins isn't something to get excited about, it's certainly good to add bodies to the position to promote competition. Faggins probably isn't starting material, but he's certainly better than Joey Thomas, Will Billingsley and Scorpio Babers.

Given the signing of Eric Green, the interest in Faggins and the apparent lack of interest in bigger names on the market, it seems the Dolphins are content coaching up decent players and making up for talent at corner with a good pass rush. Regardless of whether or not Miami signs Faggins or any other corners this offseason, expect the Dolphins to still take a player at the position early in April's draft.
