The Miami Dolphins announced today that they hosted free agent cornerback Eric Green on Monday, March 4.
A third-round pick out of Virginia Tech in 2005, The 5-11, 196-pound Green has started 33 of the 51 games in which he has played over four seasons with the Cardinals. He has 167 tackles, two interceptions and 30 pass deflections in his career.
I for one am excited to hear about the visit. While not a sure starter, Green still has room to grow as he's still young (26) with great tools and athleticism.
Furthermore, he would easily be an upgrade over all of the Dolphins' cornerbacks behind Will Allen. The team certainly has a hole in the starting lineup at corner with the departure of Andre' Goodman. As you may recall, I mentioned Green as a potential signing in my cornerback offseason preview video.
I'm willing to bet Green's signing will be announced tomorrow, given that the official site posted a story about his free-agent visit which doesn't always happen.
