11/25 quick hits

  • As you know, the Dolphins' Dec. 6 game against the New England Patriots has been moved from Sunday night at 8:20 to 1 p.m. NBC decided to go with the Minnesota Vikings-Arizona Cardinals for their primetime broadcast.
  • The Miami Dolphins have already filled their lone roster spot, signing an as-of-yet unknown offensive lineman wearing No. 61 in today's practice. I'll have more on the signing, as well as the additions of cornerback Evan Oglesby and Ikaika Alama-Francis, later today.
  • Oglesby has been assigned No. 41, while Alama-Francis will wear No. 79.
  • The Dolphins re-signed safety Nate Ness to their practice squad and he was back practicing today. An undrafted free agent out of Arizona, Ness was promoted from the practice squad against the Carolina Panthers but was inactive for the game.
  • Starting center Jake Grove rode a stationary bike and did not participate in practice today. Joe Berger, who was also injured against Carolina, took first-team reps at center, while Nate Garner once again filled in for Justin Smiley at left guard.
  • Paul Soliai, who has missed the team's past two games with an ankle injury, picked a good time to return to practice. Soliai is much needed as the only pure nose tackle on the active roster now that Jason Ferguson has been placed on injured reserve.
  • Defensive ends Randy Starks and Tony McDaniel will be the top backups to Soliai at nose tackle. At around 290 pounds, newly signed Ikaika Alama-Francis is not a candidate.
  • Ricky Williams has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 11. Replacing Ronnie Brown as the Dolphins' No. 1 running back, Williams rushed for 119 yards and added 19 through the air with three touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers. It was the first game of Williams' career in which he scored both rushing and receiving.
