Miami Dolphins Alumni Update (January 2010)

Here is a list of all the pro football league transactions for the month of January that involved former Miami Dolphins players:
  • 1/4 — The Kansas City Chiefs re-signed wide receiver Chandler Williams to a future contract. Williams spent the 2007 season on the Dolphins' practice squad and was re-signed the following offseason, only to be waived in April.
  • 1/4 — The New York Giants re-signed offensive lineman Rueben Riley to a future contract. Riley was with the Dolphins in training camp in 2008, joining the team on July 26 and being waived Aug. 3.
  • 1/4 — The Washington Redskins re-signed wide receivers Anthony Armstrong and James Robinson to future contracts. Armstrong spent the 2008 season on the Dolphins' practice squad and attended training camp with the team in 2009. Robinson was signed by the Dolphins on August 10, 2009, and was on the team's practice squad during the regular season until his release on Nov. 4.
  • 1/5 — The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed safety Tuff Harris to a future contract. Harris signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Montana in 2007 and appeared in one game for the team as a rookie, although he spent most of the season on the practice squad. He was waived in April 2008.
  • 1/5 — The St. Louis Rams re-signed offensive lineman Mark Lewis to a future contract. Lewis attended 2009 training camp with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon, and also spent time on the team's practice squad.
  • 1/6 — The Detroit Lions re-signed offensive lineman Kirk Barton to a future contract. Barton spent time on the Dolphins' active roster early in the 2008 regular season but did not appear in the game, and also spent time on the team's practice squad later in the year.
  • 1/6 — The New England Patriots placed wide receiver Wes Welker on injured reserve with a knee injury. Welker spent three seasons with the Dolphins from 2004 to 2006, appearing in 46 games and catching 96 passes for 1,121 yards and a touchdown while also serving as the team's return specialist. He was traded to the Patriots in March 2007 in exchange for second- and seventh-round picks in the 2007 NFL Draft, used on center Samson Satele and linebacker Abraham Wright, respectively.
  • 1/7 — The Denver Broncos re-signed guard Matt McChesney to a future contract. McChesney was signed to the Dolphins practice squad in November 2008 and later earned a promotion to the active roster, appearing in one game before being placed on injured reserve withe a knee injury. He was waived in February 2009.
  • 1/14 — The Tennessee Titans signed offensive lineman Nevin McCaskill to a future contract. McCaskill spent five days on the Dolphins' practice squad in mid-December 2009.
  • 1/18 — The Arizona Cardinals re-signed linebacker Mark Washington to a future contract. Washington played three games for the Dolphins in 2007, recording one tackle.
  • 1/18 — The Baltimore Ravens re-signed tight end Davon Drew to a future contract. Originally drafted by the Ravens in 2009, Drew was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins on Sept. 6, only to be waived/injured with an ankle injury two days later. He was released from injured reserve with an injury settlement on Sept. 10.
  • 1/19 — The Cleveland Browns re-signed cornerback Chris Roberson to a future contract. Roberson spent part of the 2008 preseason with the Dolphins before being waived on Aug. 22.
  • 1/21 — The Arizona Cardinals re-signed fullback Reagan Maui'a to a future contract. The Dolphins' sixth-round pick in 2007, Maui'a played one season for the Dolphins and totaled 10 yards of offense before being waived during final cuts in 2008.
  • 1/21 — The Baltimore Ravens signed wide receiver Chris Hannon to a future contract. Hannon was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins from the San Francisco 49ers in Dec. 2008, and spent two games inactive with the team before being waived.
  • 1/25 — The New York Jets re-signed safety Brannon Condren to a future contract. Condren spent nearly a month with the Dolphins between October and November 2008, appearing in four games and recording three special teams tackles before his release.
  • 1/29 — The San Diego Chargers re-signed defensive end Derrick Jones to a future contract. Jones spent part of October 2009 on the Dolphins' practice squad.
