Miami Dolphins Alumni Update: March 2010

Here are all the pro football transactions involving former members of the Miami Dolphins for the month of March 2010:

  • March 1 — The Dallas Vigilantes (AFL) released wide receiver David Sutton from his contract. Signed as an undrafted free agent out of UTEP by the Dolphins in 2007, Sutton was released during the preseason on Aug. 27.
  • March 3 — The Saskatchewan Roughriders (CFL) signed offensive tackle Dan Goodspeed (Tiger-Cats) to a contract. Goodspeed spent the 2004 offseason with the Dolphins before being released during the preseason.
  • March 6 — The Denver Broncos signed cornerback Nathan Jones (Dolphins) to a contract. Jones spent two seasons with the Dolphins from 2008 to 2009, appearing in 32 games (five starts) and recording 77 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles, three interceptions, and 11 pass deflections.
  • March 6 — The St. Louis Rams signed quarterback A. J. Feeley (Panthers) to a contract. Acquired for a second-round pick in the 2004 offseason, Feeley started eight games out of 11 played that year, completing 53.7 percent of his passes for 1,893 yards and 11 touchdowns with 15 interceptions. He was traded to the San Diego Chargers during the 2005 season.
  • March 8 — The Detroit Lions re-signed tight end Will Heller to a contract. Heller spent part of the 2005 season with the Dolphins, appearing in seven games and catching one pass for one yard and a touchdown.
  • March 8 — The Houston Texans re-signed punter Matt Turk to a contract. Turk served as the Dolphins' punter from 2000 to 2004, punting 402 times for a 39.2-yard average.
  • March 8 — The Kansas City Chiefs re-signed wide receiver Chris Chambers to a contract. The Dolphins' second-round pick in 2001, Chambers spent just over six seasons with the Dolphins and was selected to one Pro Bowl before being traded to the Chargers in October 2007 for a second-round pick (eventually used on quarterback Chad Henne). Chambers left the Dolphins ranking fifth in franchise history in receptions (405), fourth in yards (5,688), and fourth in touchdowns (43).
  • March 9 — The Buffalo Bills signed offensive tackle Cornell Green (Raiders) to a contract. Green spent the 2001 season on the Dolphins' practice squad before being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the following preseason.
  • March 9 — The Denver Broncos re-signed placekicker Matt Prater to a contract. Prater spent the 2007 offseason and preseason with the Dolphins, but lost the kicking competition to Jay Feely.
  • March 9 — The Seattle Seahawks re-signed franchise player and placekicker Olindo Mare to a contract. The Dolphins' all-time scoring leader with 1,048 points, Mare was the Dolphins' placekicker from 1997 to 2006 after joining the team as an undrafted free agent. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1999.
  • March 10 — The Toronto Argonauts (CFL) signed quarterback Gibran Hamdan (Bills) to a contract. Hamdan spent the 2007 offseason with the Dolphins, but was waived during final cuts in September.
  • March 11 — The Indianapolis Colts signed offensive lineman Andy Alleman (Chiefs) to a contract. Alleman appeared in 15 games for the Dolphins in 2008, including four starts, before being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs prior to the 2009 season.
  • March 11 — The Washington Redskins signed tight end Sean Ryan (Chiefs) to a contract. Ryan appeared in the Dolphins' 2008 regular season opener, but was released on Sept. 12.
  • March 14 — The Jacksonville Sharks (AFL) signed offensive lineman Pedro Sosa to a contract. An undrafted free agent out of Rutgers, Sosa spent the 2008 preseason with the Dolphins before being waived during final cuts.
  • March 15 — The New York Jets signed defensive end Rodrique Wright to a contract. A seventh-round pick by the Dolphins out of Texas in 2006, Wright appeared in 13 games (nine starts) over three seasons with the team, recording 28 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
  • March 16 — The Houston Texans signed center Wade Smith (Chiefs) to a contract. A third-round pick by the Dolphins out of Memphis in 2003, Smith spent three seasons with the team and 22 games (18 starts).
  • March 16 — The Utah Blaze (AFL) have signed wide receiver David Sutton to a contract.
  • March 17 — The Arizona Cardinals re-signed center Ben Claxton to a contract. Claxton spent part of the 2003 regular season on the Dolphins' practice squad.
  • March 17 — The Cleveland Browns re-signed offensive lineman Billy Yates to a contract. Signed by the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M in 2003, Yates appeared in three games for the team as a rookie, but was waived prior to the 2004 season.
  • March 17 — The Toronto Argonauts (CFL) signed quarterback Cleo Lemon to a contract. Lemon spent three seasons (2005 to 2007) with the Dolphins after being acquired from the San Diego Chargers, appearing in 13 games (eight starts) and throwing for 2,185 yards and eight touchdowns with seven interceptions.
  • March 19 — The New York Giants signed punter Jy Bond to a contract. An Australian football player, Bond was a member of the Dolphins' offseason roster from March to June 2009.
  • March 23 — The Kansas City Chiefs re-signed offensive tackle Ike Ndukwe to a contract. Originally signed by the Dolphins in late 2007, Ndukwe started 15 of 16 games played in 2008, but was traded to the Chiefs prior to the 2009 season.
  • March 28 — The Utah Blaze (AFL) placed wide receiver David Sutton on reassignment.
  • March 29 — The Arizona Cardinals signed linebacker Joey Porter (Dolphins) to a contract. Signed to a five-year, $32 million contract by the Dolphins in 2007, Porter recorded 153 tackles, 32 sacks, six forced fumbles, and two interceptions. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2008, recording 17.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.
  • March 30 — The Jacksonville Sharks (AFL) placed offensive lineman Pedro Sosa on team suspension.
  • March 31 — The Arizona Cardinals signed guard Rex Hadnot (Browns) to a contract. A sixth-round pick by the Dolphins out of Houston in 2004, Hadnot appeared in 63 of 64 possible games for the Dolphins through the 2007 season, starting 55 of them.
