Dolphins release CB Al Harris from injured reserve

The Miami Dolphins released veteran cornerback Al Harris from injured reserve Thursday, according to Adam Caplan of FoxSports.com.

Harris, 36, was signed by the Dolphins on Nov. 10 to provide depth in the secondary. He recorded three tackles in three games for the team before a hamstring injury landed him on injured reserve on Dec. 7.

The two-time Pro Bowl selection joined the Dolphins just two days after his release from the Green Bay Packers, with whom he'd spent the regular season to that point on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform list recovering from a major knee injury suffered in late 2009.

Harris, who also drew interest from the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and Minnesota Vikings before signing with the Dolphins, immediately become a free agent and is eligible to sign with any team.

Had he not been released by Miami now, Harris would have been a free agent in the 2011 offseason after his one-year deal with the Dolphins expired.
